Portola Valley Residence

Situated on twenty acres surrounded by protected open space, this technologically advanced residence, designed by Bob Stoecker of Stoecker and Northway Architects, seamlessly blends into the surrounding countryside.  From the design of the roof to match the cascading hillside to landscaping the property with indigenous plants and trees, this home appears to be one with the natural environment.  Large floor to ceiling windows open the home to abundant natural light and breathtaking views from all sides, while wood trellises and automated shades provide protection from the sun when needed.  The environmental friendliness does not stop at the appearance of this structure, as it was also designed for a net-zero energy consumption through the use of geo-thermal, photovoltaic, and solar-thermal systems.  Home integration software was used to streamline the various system controls.  This allows the owner to easily manage and monitor all home functionality using touch panels located throughout the residence.
