Ross Residence Given a Citation of Merit by Focus Magazine in October of 2004, the residence entails a perimeter wall "whose single-level plan is intended to internalize landscape. Housing functions are separated and treated as "figure" interspersed with the "ground" of courtyards in an irregular pattern of solids and openings. Extraordinarily clean detailing draws the eye through nearly invisible glass walls to courtyards, forging a strong relationship between indoor and outdoor building volumes. The ceiling plane is fractured and folded along a diagonal pattern designed to explore the interplay of light and space." Also awarded the Distinguished Building Award Citation of Merit by the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects 2004. |
